Trends in Collaboration:Who’s Using Web Event Services |
If we’ve heard this question once, we’ve heard it at least 327 times: “What do other companies do with Web events?” Well, we certainly know our own numbers, but now an independent industry analyst has done a nationwide survey. In their recent World Web Event Services market study, the analysts at Frost and Sullivan tabulated the following breakdown of Web Event usage by business function: 35.8% Sales & Marketing Focused on lead generation, product definition/development, sales, brand-building; rapid growth expected. 27.7% Training Focused on geographically dispersed prospect, customer, partner, and employee groups; significant growth expected. 19.5% General Meetings Typical uses include periodic all-hand meetings, company announcements, and press conferences 6.7% Investor Relations These focus on conferences requiring significant levels of interaction; Webcasts are used when interaction is less critical. 5.0% Human Resources 5.3% Others So that’s how it sorts out worldwide. If your organization isn’t holding Web events in some of these areas … maybe it should! New Sales and Finance Executives, Same Customer Service FocusJust when you thought our commitment to your well-being was topping out … we’ve added two new customer champions to the LINK team. Mike Villanueva accepted the position of Vice President – Sales, and is spearheading some exciting new ideas – plus some customer-focused processes -- that will enable LINK to offer a wider selection of products and services in the near future. With more choice, it will be even easier for you to take advantage of the precise mix of collaboration services you need. On the financial side of the business, David Joyce has joined us as company Controller. While focused on helping us correctly count the beans, he’s also working for you: with his help, we’re streamlining the invoicing process. Wait ‘til you see the results! Nothing quite like an easy-reading invoice to smooth your way through the day. Thanks, David! Mike and David are, of course, 100% on board with our commitment to “Above and Beyond” customer service. As you might have guessed … it’s in every job description around here. Web conferencing update:WebEx now delivering more than ever. Here’s great news for those of you who use – or plan to use – LINK’s enhanced WebEx services. Now you can collaborate in new ways that let you accomplish more with every online interaction. Here’s a sampling: Better-looking emails. WebEx has made its automatically generated, pre- and post-meeting email notifications clearer, a little dressier, and easier to read. Attendees will be more in-the-know than ever before, and that makes meetings easier. Documents that go sideways. Now Presentation Viewer lets you view documents in your choice of portrait or landscape. You’ll either save time or a few trips to the chiropractor – either way, it’s a good thing. Eye-popping training videos. Training Center has just added a new kind of video compression, which all by itself sounds … technical. But the upshot is you can present more (and better-looking) live videos – demos, processes, and more – to more people concurrently, and use less of your network’s bandwidth. Faster Support Center even lets you speak your mind. With a smaller footprint on the client side and an improved startup process, customers can join support sessions as much as 50% faster – plus you can enable Voice Over IP (VoIP) on-the-fly when talking with the customer makes sense. You’ll save time with every customer, and they’ll be happier, too. Honest. There’s more, of course, but no room for it here. Sometimes, our persistent Above and Beyond the Call habit takes us out into the community to see where we can help. One such example: the Neighborhood Legal Clinics here in King County, WA. It turns out the good people at the King County Bar Association wanted to reach out to people and neighborhoods in our area who might have limited access to legal advice and assistance. Members – attorneys and their staffs – volunteered to hold Neighborhood Legal clinics, topics were selected, and a schedule was created. The Bar Association holds seminars for the volunteers before the clinics, so everyone will feel prepared and comfortable with each clinic topic – and that’s where LINK comes in. For more than a year LINK has provided “Pro bono” audio conferencing for nearly all of these volunteer prep seminars (which also double as continuing legal education for the participants). Clinic topics – and those of the clinic prep seminars -- run the gamut, addressing family law and divorce, elder law, debtors rights, parenting law, landlords and tenants, court procedures, labor law … just about everything you can imagine that comes up for people living and working in large, diverse, metropolitan area. What’s important to LINK is the result. Real people with real problems attend these clinics, get the answers they need, and often receive additional direction and assistance from the volunteers or other referred resources. We’re very happy to help make these clinics possible – and, by the way, we salute the volunteers who make these clinics happen.
